Accessibility and language help
Milieu Carts includes tools to make local mobility information and application preparation easier to read, hear, and use.
Make the display work for you
Open Accessibility using the floating button or the footer link. Choose text sizes up to 200%, high contrast light or dark colors, comfortable spacing, a simple font, underlined links, stronger keyboard focus, reduced motion, a larger pointer, or a reading guide.
You can hide the floating button and reopen settings from the Accessibility link. Reset all settings restores the site defaults. Your preferences stay in this browser, including across visits. Settings still work for the current visit if browser storage is unavailable.
Read in your language
Use the language selector to translate the site interface, instructions, and help. The selected language also tells screen readers how to pronounce page text. Languages written from right to left use the corresponding reading direction.
Names, entered answers, identifiers, and uploaded files retain their original content. Translation can contain errors. Check the original wording when a requirement, address, route instruction, or other detail matters. External websites and documents may have their own language and accessibility tools.
Listen to the page
In Accessibility, use Read aloud to hear the visible page text with an available on-device voice. Choose the voice and reading speed, then use Read page, Pause reading, Resume reading, or Stop reading. Keep the panel open while listening. Reading stops when you close it, change the page or language, or leave the site.
The reader selects a voice matching the page language when your device provides one. If no suitable voice is installed, add that language in your device’s speech settings or use your device’s screen reader. Read aloud does not send text to an online speech service. Input values and uploaded documents are skipped.
Keyboard and screen-reader access
Built-in navigation and screen-reader support remain available with visual adjustments turned off. Use your device’s usual screen reader, such as TalkBack, VoiceOver, Narrator, or NVDA. No special site mode is required.
- Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between controls. Use Enter or Space to activate buttons and choices.
- Use Skip to content to move past the page header. Screen-reader heading and landmark commands help you navigate sections.
- Escape closes the accessibility panel. Focus returns to the control that opened it.
- Application fields have labels. Required actions, errors, and status updates appear as text.
- Route directions are also available as text. Map colors and position markers supplement the route instructions.
Your device’s reduced-motion setting is respected. Browser zoom and operating-system accessibility settings can also be used.
Request help or report a barrier
Email info@homemilieu.org with the page or task, what prevented you from continuing, and the format or assistance you need. If helpful, include your browser, device, or assistive technology. Please do not attach identification, insurance records, or other sensitive documents to an accessibility report.
We review accessibility feedback and work to improve the experience. Third-party sign-in pages, external documents, and device voice availability are controlled by their respective providers.
